It Started With Watching People Flip a Book
Fifteen years ago, founder Matthew Strong watched guests with flipbooks at an event and noticed what happened: nobody put them down. They flipped them, laughed, handed them to a friend, and flipped them again. Most event keepsakes get politely pocketed. These got passed around.
The idea that turned that into Action Flipbooks was green screen. Instead of filming guests in front of a backdrop, put them inside an experience: flying over a city, on stage at a sold-out show, underwater, in a world built for the event. Suddenly guests weren't just making a flipbook, they were choosing an adventure, and plenty came back through the line for a second book with a completely different scene. That combination, flipbooks plus real green screen production, grew into a national photo and video activation company that has produced more than 500 premium activations for clients including Disney, Google, Netflix, Marvel, Microsoft, LinkedIn, Adobe, and Sony PlayStation.
What We Do Now
The flipbook is still the flagship, and the green screen is still what sets ours apart: custom-filmed backgrounds, guests picking the world they star in, covers designed in-house. Around it we've built a full activation studio: AI-powered 360 booths, green screen video and photo experiences, AI photo activations, and SpotMyPhotos roaming photography. A flipbook station at a prom. A full green screen studio at a product launch. Three activations running side by side at a 1,000-person gala. Every event gets a configuration built for its guest count, venue, and goals.
And we handle all of it ourselves: creative design, custom branding, equipment, setup, on-site production, staffing, and breakdown. You tell us about the event. We take care of the rest.
Why the Biggest Brands Keep Coming Back
- Real green screen production. We're one of the few flipbook companies that films its own backgrounds, so guests choose the experience they star in instead of settling for a stock backdrop.
- A real staff, not gig workers. Our on-site team are trained W-2 employees, led by crew leads with thousands of events behind them.
- Design happens in-house. Covers, backgrounds, overlays, and templates are built by us and proofed with you before the event.
- We're built for scale. One station or six, 50 guests or 5,000, a single night or a 20-city tour. Backup equipment and redundancy systems travel with us.
- Fully licensed and insured. COI for any venue, union-compliant, convention-center tested.
The Team
Matthew still runs the company and still works events, and between him and crew lead Rick Furgison there are thousands of events of experience setting the standard the rest of the team trains to. With Brian Bedford rounding out the crew leads, there isn't a venue situation this team hasn't already solved: the ballroom with no freight elevator, the outdoor festival with questionable power, the show floor that changed layout the night before. That's the experience you're actually booking. The equipment matters, but the reason an event goes smoothly is the people running it.
Where We Work
We're a California company with deep roots in the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles, and we produce events nationwide and internationally. Travel is included in every quote, no separate line items. If you have an event, we'll be there.
